MDS Lavastorm Analytics Uses Executive Dashboard to Give New Level of Visibility into Customer Experience Issues Allowing Executives to Take Prompt and Effective Action.

MDS Lavastorm Analytics, today announced its participation in the Executive Dashboard for Data Analytics and Business Benchmarking Catalyst live demonstration at TM Forum’s Management World Americas 2011 that will show how communications service providers (CSPs) can leverage business analytics to transform disparate operational data into actionable and timely insight, thereby improving customer experience.

Part of TM Forum’s Revenue Management Initiative, which brings service providers, suppliers and partners together to create best practices and standards for revenue and profitability impacting business management areas in a collaborative way, the Catalyst project uses an executive dashboard to track specific business performance KPIs against industry-agreed metrics from the TM Forum Business Benchmarking Database.

The MDS Lavastorm Analytics demonstration scenario uses customer complaints arising from a CSP product launch to show how business executives can easily identify the root cause of the complaints and rapidly implement a solution. The executive dashboard automates comparison of agreed customer experience business metrics against TM Forum business performance benchmarks, alerting executives to a sudden increase in the volume of customer complaints. By drilling-down through the hierarchical data structure with an easy-to-use visual interface, executives are able to determine that poor engineer product training is the root cause of the installation complaints. By rapidly introducing an improved training program for engineers, the CSP can stem the flow of poor installations and immediately reduce the volume of customer complaints.

Championed by Telefonica’s O2 Slovakia and Sonaecom’s Optimus, the Catalyst project also involves cVidya, Subex, TMNG Global and WeDo Technologies, and will be demonstrated live in Forumville at TM Forum’s Management World Americas, taking place 8-10 November in Orlando, FL. TM Forum’s Catalyst program takes an innovative approach to creating leading-edge solutions by providing service providers and MSOs, system integrators and industry suppliers with a neutral collaborative environment and a process for working together to solve common, critical industry challenges.

“This Catalyst project showcases the benefits of using TM Forum Business Metrics, part of the Frameworx suite of standards, to highlight how key operational areas of your business are performing against high-quality, objective and standardized industry performance data,” said Steve Cotton, Head of Revenue Management, TM Forum. “TM Forum’s Revenue Management Initiative is focused on helping service providers to adopt a holistic approach to revenue management by creating best practices, standardizing the language and processes of revenue management, and supporting TM Forum’s industry-wide benchmarking program.”

“The overload of operational data that today’s service providers are dealing with severely hinders their ability to make the right business decisions in a timely manner,” said Matt Hooper, Chief Marketing Officer for MDS Lavastorm Analytics. “This Catalyst project demonstrates how business analytics can provide the link between operational data and industry benchmark data to empower executives and optimize business performance.”
